Matt is now at Stage 5 of TBI. This stage includes the following:
-Agitation due to external sources of stress.
-Behavioral responses are random and fragmented, unless he has continual structure.
-Is distracted easily and constantly has to be re-directed toward accomplishing goals.
-Can respond to simple commands fairly consistently.
-Can not initiate functional tasks on his own.
-Memory is severly impaired: there is confusion between the past and present.
-Able to converse on social automatic level, but only with structure. The content of what is said is inappropriate and fictitious.

We are very grateful for this blog, it fills like a life line to you all. Every time we are at the computer this is the first place we go. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We have asked family and friends to add Matt to their prayer lists. Prayers are going up in MS, TN, FL.

Hope And Dream
From the wings of a darkened night
small lights of Hope are born
They shine of Faith and Belief
and in their hands are the hidden seeds of new beginnings
Look to the sky and know we all Believe in you Matt
we LOVE you and are praying for your recovery constantly!
Aunt Karen, Sarah and Christian
I’m sending this to let you know
I think of you each day,
And pray for your recovery,
Hoping soon you’ll be okay.
You’re going through a lot right now;
You’re treatments can be trying;
Remember while you do them
It’s your problem you’re defying.
Hold on to your positive attitude,
And when things get hard to bear,
Know that I am here for you;
Remember that I care.
And when you’re well and flourishing,
Look back and realize,
You learned what you were made of;
That’s a reward that satisfies!
I believe in you; You can do it!
love your cousin, Jen
I wish i could still be up there with you all, but promise I'll be there for a visit before you know it!
In the meantime, know that i am thinking of you and praying for you CONSTANTLY. You are a tough kid, and you are going to find your way to not only heal, but be better than ever! You have so so much to offer this world, and you will! I believe in you kiddo. Eat up all of grandma's homemade cooking, take things one challenge at a time......okay for once in your life I'll lay off the lecturing and advice.... Play a game of "go fish" for me. I love you kiddo, and I'm here for all of you. Aunt Brenda
